About Alaura

As a teen, I staged portraits inspired by costume dramas, which paved the way for fashion work, event bookings, and my first wedding in 2015. I graduated from Northwestern University (Go 'Cats!) with degrees in journalism and history and soon began working for a luxury wedding design firm. While I loved it, I envied the photographers because I wanted to be closer to the action. So, I went full-time with Alaura Creative, and I haven't looked back!

I believe that wedding photographers should be wedding people: People who, beyond the glamour, truly understand the magnitude of the event that they are capturing. My background taught me the art of good storytelling and the importance of making folks comfortable to preserve memories both beautifully and authentically. The photos we create will be cherished for life, displayed in your home, and passed down to future generations!

When I'm not working, you'll likely find me tending to my animals (2 cats, 1 dog, 5 hens), gardening, or simply relaxing with my husband and toddler daughter. I'm also a history nerd and the Vice President of the Chicago Historical Costume Society, so there's a good chance I'm dressed like a time traveler on any given day.
